More than 1,200 members of the US military have lost arms and legs in Middle East fighting in the decade since 9/11. Amazing advances in technology-plus extraordinary courage and determination-are helping these wounded warriors make their way back.
Local insurer The Standard is sponsoring a Hood to Coast Relay team of 12 disabled veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars who were severely injured in the line of duty. Despite severe disabling injuries such as loss of limb, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, blindness or severe muscle damage, these men and women will compete against over 1200 other non-disabled teams in the world renowned Hood to Coast relay (Aug 26-27).
Their stories and dedication are truly inspiring and they are the only team of this nature to ever participate in Hood to Coast.
